What better way to begin a blog than to tell the story of how we began....
Paul returned from serving his mission in Londrina, Brazil in July of 2007. I had just graduated from Alta High School one month earlier.
Paul likes to pretend that he remembers when we first met, i think it's because i have built up the guilt inside of him for forgetting when he first saw his wife!
My best friend Amber (This is the one and only time you will ever hear me call her Amber, i always have and always will call her Bambi, so for future references, this is who Bambi is.) had just finished going to hair school where she met a very good friend, Celeste Curtis. Celeste had invited Bambi and i over to watch a movie with her. We got to Cels' house and went down stairs to watch Fievel Goes West.
Yup, our story begins with Fievel.
We were watching the movie when a handsome newly returned missionary walked down the stairs holding a box of cheez-it's. I thought he was such a stud. But the rational thoughts got the best of me... why would a 21 year old guy have any interested in a recent high school graduate of 17 years old. So we went on the next couple years, falling for all the wrong people, dating all the wrong people.
Almost Two Years Later....
A week before Thanksgiving Bambi and i got invited to go to a game night at our good friend Clint's house. We got to Clint's and his house was filled with tons of young single adults. Some people we've never met and some people we knew. Then i saw Paul, it had been almost a year and a half since i had seen him last. I remember hovering closely around him the whole night. Striking up conversations here or there. We exchanged phone numbers that night and decided that we needed to do something very soon. This picture was taken that night.

It's proof of me sticking very closely to him. can you see me in the bottom right corner?
Fast Forward to February 2009. Clint called Bambi and i to invite us to a cabin for Valentine's day weekend. He said some friends were going up there to stay the night, play games, hang out, watch movies, etc. For some reason i just didn't really feel like going along for the ride. When i got a phone call from Paul. He said that Bambi and i had to come up and that he wouldn't take no for an answer. So we packed up our things and met at Zach Hewlett's house to follow everyone up to his cabin. Paul decided that he was going to come with us just in case we lost everyone and didn't know how to get to the cabin. We spent the hour and a half drive to the cabin talking with each other and getting to know one another. He was very interested in hearing everything about me, everything about my family, he truly want to know who i was. About twenty minutesbefore we arrived at the cabin he decided to lay his head down for a second to take a little nap. I offered him my pillow so he would have something comfortable to lay on. We had driven past Park City when the snow started to become slick and even deep in some areas. We made it to the gate of the cabin and the snow was too deep to drive any of our cars through. So for the next two hours we all shoveled snow to make an area to safely park all of our cars. We unpacked our cars and made the trek from the car to the house in the deep snow. Paul helped Bambi and i carry our bags into the cabin. I grabbed my pillow and noticed there was a freshly new drool spot. (Paul is a drooler when he sleeps and it was that day that i realized i could never share a pillow with him, he still gets teased)
We spent the rest of the night playing games, eating heaps of food... one by one everyone slipped away to go find a comfy place to sleep. It was getting late and the only people awake were me, Bambi, BJ (Paul's best friend) and Paul. We decided we would all sleep in the main room. Paul told me i could have the couch to sleep on and he made himself a bed next to the couch. We turned off the lights and laid down to go to sleep. I had my hand hanging over the couch just waiting for Paul to at least hold me hand. I waited, and waited....and waited. When finally he reached over and grabbed my pinky for .5 seconds. He then pulled his hand back really fast and went to sleep.

I still make fun of him to this day. He always talks about how absolutely nervous he was to hold my hand and when he grazed my hand it made him even more nervous. I will always remember the pinky hold and how exciting of a moment that was for both of us.
The next day we woke up and everyone took turns snow mobiling outside. Of course Paul and i decided to go out on a ride together. It was so beautiful being in the snow covered mountains early in the morning .....on Valentine's day nonetheless! I had to leave early because i was supposed to be to work at noon. So Bambi and i packed up my car and said goodbye to everyone. On the way home i was on cloud nine, grinning from ear to ear. Bambi turned to me and said "Whitney, I think you've just met your soul mate!" I was so giddy and excited about how i was feeling about him. We drove home and instead of going to work i decided not to show up and instead i spent the day with Bambi laying by her fireplace talking about life...and Paul!
